Even More Great Ocean Road

These views are over Lorne, a beautiful little coastal town. We see that there is a free wine tasting evening on at the local community centre & never being the sort of people to turn down a free drink we decide to stay on. We meet some lovely people at the tasting & have a good chat with some of the community workers about the challenges of working in such a tiny place. Sometimes Australia does seem to make you feel as though you've travelled back in time once you get outside the major cities.

Great Ocean Road

We spend a few days driving along the great ocean road, stopping off at beaches, view points & coastal villages along the way. The sea is quite choppy here & perfect for surfing. There are some beautifully preserved lighthouses & many stories about shipwrecks.

Our Visitors

At every campsite we stay at we makes some more friends. It's very odd trying to keep wild cockatoos from stealing your museli of a morning.

Kookubura & Stuff

We keep getting woken upin the morning by a sound like monkeys laughing. Eventually we track it down to this little fella & suddenly I remember singing songs at Brownies about the laughing Kookubura. Just had to take a photo of Hedley street. Sorry. Not sure if we've photographed the other side of our van yet. Well, here's a picture just in case. Our van's official name is 'Ultra Trippin' but we've been called him 'Jimi'.

More Koalas

We just don't know how they manage to stay up there.

Koalas

Here are some pictures from our visit to the Koala conservation centre on Phillip Island. We went here the morning after seeing the sunset penguin parade. The koalas are really close & could in theory bite or scratch but lucky for us they sleep for around 20 hours a day. Something to do with their eucalyptus leaves diet & the need to conserve energy.
