Zacatecas became wealthy through its successful silver mining industry & although there isn't a lot of mining going on there now you can visit the mine shafts for an idea of what it would've been like to work there. It's very interesting to see how the mine worked but it's pretty grim down there. The visit makes us very grateful about the way we are able to make our own livings.

Looks like a palace compared to coal mines, when i were a lad. they dont know they're born them silver diggers
