Crikey! It's Australia Zoo.

We have a day trip to the famous Australia zoo which was formerly run by Steve Irwin who you may know from his appearances on TV as the crocodile hunter. Since his death from a stingray barb to the heart, his wife Terri has taken over the running of the zoo but you would never know it from your visit. Images of Steve are everywhere. It verges on the ghoulish. Also, Steve's daughter Bindi who can't be more than eight years old seems to have been turned into a bit of a marketing tool & now has her own radio show, fitness video & children's clothing line. It all leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth & Steve's father Bob who originally founded the zoo has left the business recently in a high profile disagreement with Terri about the way the zoo has been run since Steve's death.

All that said, we do have a great time at the zoo & it's a completely different experience from visiting a zoo in the UK as you can handle & feed lots of the animals. Also there are stacks of highly knowledgeable keepers patrolling the grounds ready to talk to you about anything you might want to know about the animals.
