Queen of Wool

I guess I shouldn't be surprised given the number of sheep in Zealand that one of the temporary exhibitions in Te Papa is about wool. The queen of wool mentioned here isn't Paul (although he poses very beautifully for the picture). It's Mary Annette Hay who was the head of the New Zealand wool board for many years. In the library I couldn't resist taking a sneaky snap of 'Her Excellency's Knitting Book'. The small print reads,

'For the Empire and for Freedom we all must do our bit;
The men go forth to battle,
The women wait - and knit.'

Brilliant!
