Koh Phi Phi

Today is our last day in Thailand. We don't want to leave but Singapore & Japan are calling. We decided to take a speed boat tour around the islands of Koh Phi Phi which turns out to be great. There are beautiful tropical fish & coral everywhere & lots of opportunities for snorkelling. Sadly, unlike some of our fellow travellers we didn't have an underwater camera but the water was so clear than you could even see some of the fish from the surface.

One of our stops was at Maya bay which was the setting for the film 'The Beach'. You know the one. It's based on Alex Garland's novel & stars Leonardo DiCaprio. I'm not exactly a beach bunny but it did blow me away. It's amazing. The sand is white & soft as snow, the water is turquoise, clear, bath warm & perfectly calm. There are no buildings on the island at all & you're surrounded by imposing rocks & lush greenery. We tried to accidently get left behind but it didn't work.

I see Man Friday is back, prefer you without the fuzz Paul. Appreciate it must be difficult shaving with the heat and humidity!
