Southern Higashiyama

Today we decided to explore Southern Higashiyama. We start off at the Kiyomizu-Dera temple. There are two legends about this place. The first is that if you are able to walk the 18 metres between a pair of stones you will be be successful in love. The other legend is that if you drink the water from the Otowa-no-taki fountain it will bring you good health. The temple is really busy, especially with teenaged girls at the love stones and older people at the health fountain.

At the bottom of the temple complex is a street called Teapot Lane which is full of lovely little teashops. Paul and I try out green tea and soya cakes. Very nice!
