Takayama is famous for its saki breweries where the drink has been made in the same way for centuries. Normally they are closed to the public but every year between January and March you can visit them and do some tasting. We visited Oita brewery & were given our saki cups as a gift. We picked up a bottle to ward off the intense cold of our lodgings.
