Kava is a narcotic drink (don't worry parents. It's legal) made from a type of pepper plant. It's offered to us by our hosts on the island and apparently it's rude to refuse. The mix is prepared by our host in a huge pot and the guests sit in a circle clapping and accepting the drink served in a half coconut by saying 'bula'. The poor quality of the photos is down to our general ineptitude & not our intoxication. I think it's what's described as an acquired taste: something like slightly herbed dish water. We didn't drink much.
