Of course the best part about the course was being able to sit down & relax in the sunny courtyard after all our hard work & enjoy the fruits of our labour. Here's a photo of one of our finished dishes, stuffed poblano chillies with tomato & cinnamon sauce & minted rice.
Pilar also gives us some mescal to try & insists that we drink it in the traditional fashion. This involves putting some strange powder on a slice of lime or orange & stucking on this before downing your drink. We discovered afterwards that the powder is made from chillies, salt & a type of worm that grows on the crop that mescal is made from. Oh dear! I try to console myself by remembering that if I find a worm on a lettuce I just wash it down the drain. I guess whether it gets eaten or washed away it's all the same for the worm.
When we've finished our meal and are feeling fully sated Pilar gives us a gift of some Mexican hot chocolate & a wooden molinillo to make it with. We're so full that we have to nurse another glass of wine & join the pet cat & terrapin basking in the sun for a while. Eventually we feel able to move.
