Everywhere you look in Mexico there are reminders of the fiestas especially the day of the dead. Images of death, religious iconography & high kitsch are combined in a distintly Mexican way. Skeletons are everywhere & a statue of Jesus overlooks the weighing of our laundry. The dashboard a taxi we took was crammed with a mad collection of trinkets including rosary beads & minature paintings of the virgin of Guadalupe & Jesus weeping tears of blood along with a stuffed toy dolphin, tiny plastic flipflops & fake flowers.
